MY EDUCATION

A Purdue University & Pepperdine University Alum. I began my college education at Purdue University studying Business Management & Business Economics as an undegrad at the Krannert School of Management in West Lafayette, Indiana. At the completion of my junior year at Purdue, I relocated to Los Angeles, CA where I transferred to Pepperdine University in Malibu, California to continue my studies. After a year at Pepperdine, I tranferred back to Purdue University to obtain my combined degree (B.S. in Business Economics + M.B.A. dual degree) in 2014.

MY CAREER

"Anything you put your mind to, you can achieve."

I've spent a great part of my life making this statement a fact. I've put myself to the test when it comes to my career path and pursuits, and have achieved a great amount in the time that I've been blessed here on this Earth.

Below you can see my story chronologically of what I've been able to achieve in my career.

My Career Path

🎹 The Music Industry
After learning how to read sheet music and play instruments such as the alto saxophone and keyboard, I started producing music at the age of 15. I began making beats for my father and local rap artists, including Chicago rap-artist Bump J. I took on the alias “The Young Hustla” as a producer.

When I saw an opportunity to work with a major label, I reached out to then DTP Records/Def Jam Records‘ artist Chingy at a local in-store signing. After several months of producing beats for Chingy, I was introduced by him to his label executives. This eventually lead me to be an in-house producer for the label by the age of 18 during my freshman year at Purdue University. This opened the opportunity to work with other artists on the label (Bobby V., Playaz Circle [2 Chainz], Shawnna, BXC, etc.) besides the CEO of the label Ludacris. My duties ranged from producing or writing songs, to post-production on music and viral videos. Besides the “Battle of the Sexes” album, which was later certified Gold, several mixtapes and videos were released containing my creative efforts as well.

As my name started to spread throughout the industry for my skills, I started working with the likes of my peers Soulja Boy, Sean Kingston, Lil Wayne, Justin Bieber, etc. to name a few.

In late-2008, after following then underground independent rap label Top Dawg Entertainment and their artists (Jay Rock, Kendrick Lamar, Ab-Soul, ScHoolboy Q, BO & Punch), I was approached by them to host a future mixtape of theirs. This lead to the 2009 production of “TDE: Chicago Edition – Vol. 1” a.k.a. “The BlockAid“.

By the the end of 2010, most of the artist roster under DTP Records had exited the label, and Ludacris focused his efforts on acting in films, such as the Fast and Furious series. I still remain in connection with the labels.
📈 Wall Street
During my junior year at Purdue University, I was invited by investment banking firm Goldman Sachs to their headquarters in the Financial District of New York City, NY for an analyst position being offered to a select group of 5 college applicant finalists. I took this opportunity in the winter of 2010 and continued later as a seasonal Financial Analyst in 2011.

I was later invited back to Goldman Sachs’ headquarters as a candidate for a Technology Analyst position in January 2013, that of which he did not remain after a period of time.
📙 The Book Industry
After finishing my Junior year at Purdue University, as well as my position at Goldman Sachs, I was invited by serial entrepreneur Ryan Blair to work on his book, launch and campaign for his autobiographical business book debut “Nothing To Lose, Everything To Gain: How I Went From Gang member to Multimillionaire Entrepreneur” in Hollywood, CA. I landed in LA in late July 2011 to take on this new venture.

After the book was completed, I was given the responsibility of the book campaign’s graphic/web design, digital media marketing; including social media, as well as celebrity outreach. When the book launched on August 4, 2011, the buzz for the book was so outstanding that it became a #1 New York Times Bestseller within a few weeks, not only due to my efforts, but for Ryan’s story and his non-stop efforts as well.

Not long after the success came tragedy.

On October 13, 2011, I was struck directly in my driver’s side door of my Jaguar from an SUV in a T-Bone accident in the intersection of Wilshire Blvd & Westholme Ave in Westwood, Los Angeles. I lost control of my vehicle as it slammed into a nearby building. After being hospitalized and healing from my wounds, I got back to what I came to LA for and continued working on the book campaign tour.

Soon afterward, I transferred to Pepperdine University in Malibu, CA to continue my college education, while still remaining in the Los Angeles area.
🎮 The Gaming Industry
While continuing my college education at Pepperdine University in 2012, I was offered and accepted a voice-acting role in Rockstar Games’ “Grand Theft Auto V” thanks to DJ Pooh and his affiliates.
🎥 The TV/Film Industry
After completing my Spring 2013 semester at Pepperdine, he began working at HBO in production/post-production on two shows; “Hello Ladies” and later season four of their hit gangster-series “Boardwalk Empire“.

When both shows were wrapped up, he decided it was best to complete my education more efficiently back at Purdue University in Indiana. This is where he could graduate faster within a year not only with my Bachelor’s degree, but for their combined degree; a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Management and MBA with a concentration in Business Economics.

After this mission was completed by summer 2014, he moved back to LA.

Since both Boardwalk Empire and Hello Ladies had been cancelled while completing my education, I had to create my own opportunities.

By Q1 2015, he began working with Tupac Shakur‘s videographer and former business partner Gobi Rahimi as the executive producer on a Tupac related film entitled “7 Dayz“. The script is based Shakur’s last 7 days seen alive from Gobi’s perspective who was with him in Las Vegas the night Shakur was shot and days after in the hospital. This project was set to be initially crowdfunded, but is now in pursuit of being privately funded.

I'm currently involved in development of other film related projects.
🔐 The Fintech Industry
I met Ped Hasid in September 2014 when Ped was in the process of developing his startup company “Block26“, which invested in companies seeking Blockchain technology and its cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin. I, Ped & co-founder Ni’coel Stark teamed up on the venture while I began investing in Bitcoin that later year when the price was around $350 per Bitcoin.

When the price of Bitcoin dropped to $171, I saw this as an opportunity to invest in the cryptocurrency at a discount. Now in 2018, the price of 1 Bitcoin has already peaked at upwards of $19,500 in late 2017. I'm currently heavily invested in several other cryptocurrencies as a trader and is considered to be in the top 1.5% of crypto traders based on my investment portfolio.

I've since decided to take my efforts to my own startup at Immortal Investments. The mission is train others on investing in cryptocurrencies, along with becoming trading experts to maximize their portfolio as well.
🏋🏽 The Fitness Industry
In 2019, I acquired "Kelly's Gym" in Oakland, CA. I rebranded it as Immortal Fitness. Then later opened another location in Berkeley, CA. We are currently a members-only Gym that also offers Personal Training to suit our members needs. I employ a staff of gym manager & certified personal trainers.
👟 The Fashion Industry
In 2015, I reached out to Nicolle Knight after not only noticing that she'd been customizing shoes locally in her South LA region, but that she'd been consistent with her craft. My mission was to collaborate her customization skills with my digital creative & marketing skillset.

We grew the brand Katty Customs organically from 5k followers to well over 140k followers from 2016 to 2019. My SEO marketing skills led to Katty Customs being second behind Nike.com when searching "Custom Jordans". Soon afterwards, we launched a store on Melrose Ave. in Los Angeles, CA to showcase and sell available customs. Katty Customs has since been featured on MTV, Wild N' Out, Overtime, Big Baller Brand, etc. Currently the brand has grown to launch a show in collaboration with music producer Just Blaze entitled Fresh Pair produced by UPROXX that features creating a custom pair of sneakers tailed for many music legends.

In the midst of this, I decided to launch my own designer brand. Incubated in 2018, I decided to create MANSA™. The first set of products were footwear, particularly sneakers. The brand has since been expanded to including blockchain/web3 based headwear, tops, denim jeans, luxury sneakers and genuine leather goods including backpacks. There is a list of other things to come!
